Political Career
Seeman served as the Chief Coordinator of the group “Naam Thamizhar Iyakkam,” which evolved into the political party “Naam Thamizhar Katchi” in 2010. He was imprisoned by the Tamil Nadu government for his support for the Sri Lankan Tamil people and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, as well as for calling Velupillai Prabhakaran as the leader of all Tamils in his hardline speeches.
He considers Velupillai Prabhakaran to be the national leader of the Tamils and the symbol of Tamil emancipation. The governing DMK-Congress government imprisoned him twice without trial under the harsh National Security Act, the first for speaking in support of the LTTE and the second for protesting the execution of a Tamil fisherman by the Sri Lankan Navy.
In the 2014 parliamentary elections, Seeman announced that the Naam Tamilar Katchi will campaign against the DMDK, Congress, and BJP candidates in the constituencies where they are running. Except for the BJP, who won its lone seat in Kanniyakumari, the three major parties lost all of the seats they fought in Tamil Nadu.
